SMART Management Systems Labs: Workshops on HR Management and Social Dialogue
SMART Myanmar's most frequent workshops are our 2-day and 3-day interactive sessions for factory middle management and HR staff on effective human resources management policies and systems. We call such modules our SMART Management Systems Labs. These workshops are highly interactive and participatory, and in this way offer factory managers an opportunity to learn effectively and compare best practice approaches. A great deal of focus is given to workplace communications and grievance mechanisms. These workshops are taught in both English and Myanmar languages by both local and foreign master trainers.
One of the popular modules with our SMART Management Systems Lab series are our 2-day workshop sessions conducted jointly with the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) and China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC) on Social Dialogue and Managing Across Cultures. Unlike most other workshops which focus on Myanmar managers and staff, these sessions are designed for foreign factory managers and directors, and as such are most often taught in Mandarin language, but occassionally also in English.
Seminars on labour laws and environmental regulations
In direct cooperation with the GIZ program called Social and Labour Standards in the Textile and Garment Sector in Asia, SMART Myanmar has supported organization and awareness raising for their seminar series on Myanmar labour and environmental laws. With sessions often conducted by lawyers from Luther Law Firm, these seminars provide a broad overview of Myanmar's labour ans environmental laws for factory managers and staff.
