With support from European Union Funded SMART Myanmar, Thone Pan Hla (a community association of women garment workers) held their “Annual Myanmar Women’s Day Ceremony” on July 29th, 2018 at Kanaung Hall in Hlaing Tharyar Township, Yangon. The event was entitled “Let’s develop women’s lives starting at the workplace” and was especially to honor Thone Pan Hla members working in different factories.
The secretary general of the Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association, Daw Khine Khine Nwe attended and gave a keynote address to the over 200 member audience. Daw Thandar Ko, Director of BusinessKind Myanmar as well as the founder of Thone Pan Hla also gave a speech about International Women's Day and how Myanmar Women's Day was first formed.
The event was lively and joyful with musical performances, dances and recitals by garment workers. SMART Myanmar also used the event to promote mobile apps “Shwe Job” and “SatYone Superstar”, the educational apps for the Myanmar garment workers.
