During last week of November, SMART Myanmar hosted a 5-day BSCI training course with a collaboration of amfori association, conducted to some employees from SMART Myanmar, Myanmar Garment Manufacturers Association (MGMA) and some factories. This 5-day course is a type of social compliance accreditation and covers the understanding the range of social and ethical issues that face organizations and auditors, the fundamental purpose of a management system, the purpose, content and interrelationship of the amfori BSCI program, local industry practice and the relevant legislative framework for both national and local labour law.
This program also included the role play of an auditor or lead auditor how to plan, conduct, report and follow up a social system audit in accordance with ISO 19011. The participants have learnt the skills to actually plan, conduct, report and follow up a BSCI audit of an organization in accordance with ISO19011, amfori BSCI performance areas and law of the land as well as industry norms. The participants also contributed in variety of discussions, effectiveness with exercises, presentations and audit role plays and took the written exam of amfori BSCI st Social Systems examination paper. During this course, 7 technical experts from SMART Myanmar, 2 labour officers from MGMA and 2 compliance officers from factories joined this course.
