On August 6th, 2018 SMART Myanmar was pleased to cooperate once again with the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) project Social and Labour Standards in the Textile and Garment Sector in Asia, to conduct an Employers' Briefing on Labour Laws in Mandalay. With presentations by two lawyers from Luther Law Firm and two technical experts from SMART Myanmar - Naing July and Hsu Yin Win - this was the first public seminar SMART Myanmar has organized in Mandalay.

About 70 participants from a variety of industries joined this event, which was furthermore organized in cooperation with the Mandalay Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MRCCI) and was held at their building. SMART Myanmar started working with factories in the Mandalay region in 2016 and currently runs programs with two factories in the nearby city of Kyaukse on chemical management. The project plans further work with factories in and around Mandalay during both 2018 and 2019 on HR management, labour law compliance, occupational safety and health, environmental management and other topics.
