SMART Myanmar's chemical management & detox team concluded work with a textile factory and footwear factory in Mandalay Divsion during December, 2018.

SMART Myanmar's 6 month "chemical management & detox" on-site training module is part of the project's Environmental Management Program. With training materials and approaches originally developed and refined for approximately 10 years by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) PSES program in Bangladesh, SMART Myanmar was able to adapt and transfer this knowledge to factories, managers and workers in Myanmar starting in mid-2017, via coordinating efforts by the German Partnership for Sustainable Textiles.

SMART has recently welcomed two new factories, Jiu Sheng Myanmar and Textile Palace into the program during December, 2018 and will continue working with them during 2019. The project currently has further space for another 2 factories to join the program during the first quarter of 2019. Enquire with: [email protected] if your company is interested in applying. Participation in this program is restricted to garment or textile factories with either dyeing, washing or printing departments or otherwise to footwear assembly factories.
